The vast majority of Christians in Saudi Arabia are Expatriate Christians from African countries. They are treated very badly and heavily discriminated against. Conversion to Christianity or any other religion from Islam is punishable by death. The few Christians from an Islamic background face severe persecution from their families. It becomes a matter of family honor which is critical in Saudi society. Women converts can face imprisonment, divorce and be separated from their children. There are heavy restrictions against gathering to worship or to conduct prayers.
